Syd Barrett Guitar Style Influence - Keith Rowe
Keith Rowe has been playing guitars and other sonic devices in the amazing AMM since 1965. Mr. Rowe has explored the guitar as a primary source of pure sound, extending it with an array of found objects and bric-a-brac, for more than thirty years. Being one of the central figures in the drone department of free European improvisation he was a major influence on the Syd Barrett guitar style made famous by Syd and David Gilmour. By some accounts (Lost In The Woods) Keith Rowe was the primary influence on Syd Barrett's guitar style, "Taking his cues from experimental guitarist Keith Rowe of AMM, Barrett strived to push his music farther and farther out into the zone of complete abstraction."
