In a Memorial Day weekend series now live on the Internet, Roger Waters stated that fellow Pink Floyd member, Syd Barrett, “unlocked the door to rock 'n' roll for me.”.

The series, from the syndicated rock-and-roll radio show “In The Studio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands”, is part of their Medium Rare Online Only programs available on their website.

Waters says of Barrett, “Being a Syd Barrett fan seems to be, to me, a perfectly legitimate and reasonable way of spending your spare time... He was a very interesting man... He was the key that unlocked the door to Rock’n’Roll for me.”

Those memorialized in the series are John Lennon, George Harrison, Brad Delp of Boston, Jimi Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell of the Experience, Richard Wright and Barrett of Pink Floyd, Jim Morrison, Roy Orbison and Keith Moon and John Entwistle of The Who.

He was not that kind to Syd's fans when interviewed in Seville, in 1999.

"Syd is schizophrenic. The fact that he's a cult figure shows the sick some fans can be. The best favor they can do to him is to leave him alone"

Sevilla October 1999.

Roger used to come to my city (yeah!) from time to time in order to hunt with a friend of his, the interviewer says.

[This reminds me of the days when I was in secondary school (early 90s), and I overheard two guys in the class saw Roger on the street... At that point, I did not know who these musicians were!]
